Chat GPT has demonstrated the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) to people at large. But other examples of so-called generative AI can also be used to create new content – text or images. Freelancers are already taking advantage of the opportunities to take on more projects and increase their income sometimes making thousands of dollars a month.
We have therefore put together a list of six part-time jobs where you can earn money with the help of generative AI.
Creating pitch decks
With the help of pitch decks, startups try to convince investors to invest money in their ideas. They often take the form of a series of Powerpoint slides that combine facts about a company with an overarching narrative. If you browse a freelance platform like Upwork, you'll find hundreds of offers from companies looking for someone to create a compelling pitch deck for them.

Freelancers can produce numerous pitch decks per week thanks to tools like Tome, an AI-powered narrative tool, and Chat GPT, a chatbot that generates words. A preacher from Arkansas named Larry Lundstrom told Business Insider that he uses generative AI techniques to produce two to three pitch decks per week and bills between $500 and $1,000 for each one.
publish books
Publishing children's books has never been simpler thanks to Chat GPT's capacity to produce lucid and straightforward text as well as AI graphics generators like Midjourney and DALL-E 2. Ammaar Reshi, who works as a product design manager at financial technology company Brex, used Chat GPT and the AI Midjourney to write and illustrate a children's book called Alice and Sparkle in 72 hours.
Reshi told Insiders that he's already sold over 1,330 copies since the book launched in December and has grossed $2,600 so far. Amazon withholds a significant portion of the royalties.
Meagan Loyst, the founder of an online community of young investors called Gen Z VCs, used Chat GPT and DALL-E 2 to self-publish a children's book in less than two hours, she said.
Overdubbing videos in other languages
Streaming companies like Netflix and Creater on Youtube and Tiktok are turning to voice actors to translate their videos into more languages and reach a global audience. With a growing number of AI tools, freelancers can try their hand at dubbing too.
The Youtuber Kris McCauley, who has gained more than 90,000 subscribers on the video platform with his videos on the topic of "making money online" , recently opened a Spanish channel for his videos. In a video posted Jan. 5 , McCauley said he first turned to translations.com, which he described as a go-to place for many Youtubers to translate his videos into Spanish. In the video, McCauley said the company asked him $4,000 to dub 100 minutes of footage.
Then, according to McCauley, he discovered Nova AI, a programme that can subtitle and translate videos. According to the website, customers of Nova AI's "Pro" package, which costs $18 per month, may translate 300 minutes of video into 75 different languages.
Despite the fact that he still uses external synchronizers, McCauley claimed that his new strategy has allowed him to save hundreds of dollars. However, he pointed out that with a tool like Nova AI, a resourceful freelancer could quickly turn syncing into a lucrative side business.
to article writing
Chat GPT has shocked people with its ability to generate eloquent texts. So, it can be a useful tool for those trying to make money from writing content.
Henry Williams, a freelance writer based in London, used the bot to create a marketing article. To his "dismay" he found that Chat GPT produced a 600-word article in less than 30 seconds.
Williams noted that the bot's tone was inhuman and the structure wasn't particularly polished. But the "key points, grammar and syntax were all spot on". After some corrections, he said he asked for at least $615 for the letter.
create resumes
On a site like Upwork, freelance resume writers offering their services charge between $25 and $65 an hour. And when most of that work is outsourced to Chat GPT, writing resumes becomes an easy side hustle to make money.
"Chat GPT can write better cover letters and resumes than almost anyone," said Brianne Kimmel, a venture capitalist who founded Worklife Ventures. As the sole general partner of what Kimmel calls a "lean company," she and her team work with many freelancers, specifically looking for early adopters of new tools.
"I'm really excited about AI because I feel like there's finally a new technology that allows anyone to learn a new skill quickly," she said. "And then there are new technologies that people can actually use to monetize those skills."
filmmaking
Using generative AI techniques makes it simpler for aspiring filmmakers with busy schedules to follow their passion. A corporate strategist with a passion for filmmaking, Jordan Poblete, combines Chat GPT and Dall-E 2 to promote an independent movie.
"Our particular film involves magical realism or aspects of magical realism that aren't possible in the real world," he said, adding that Dall-E 2 was particularly helpful in getting the feel right. Poblete said he plans to pitch the film to producers later this month. Although he doesn't know exactly how much money the film could bring in, he definitely hopes for a success.
Reshi used Chat GPT, MidJourney and other AI tools to create an animated short film in six hours. Since being uploaded to Twitter last month, the video has already garnered more than seven million views.
Reshi told Business Insider that he has no plans to get into animated shorts at the moment. But he said: "If there's an idea that's inspirational enough that it's worth monetizing (and I manage to find more time after my day job, haha), then definitely!"
